When we say your statistical analysis is “R-based and reproducible,” we mean something specific that you can verify and that a journal can trust. This page explains exactly what you receive and why it matters.

What R is

R is an open-source statistical programming language used widely in academic and clinical research. Unlike point-and-click software, every step of an R analysis is written as code. That code is a permanent, readable record of exactly what was done to your data — which test was run, which variables were included, how missing data was handled, and how each result was produced.

What “reproducible” means in practice

An analysis is reproducible when another person can take the same dataset and the same code and arrive at exactly the same numbers. We deliver the full R script alongside your results. That means:

  • Every figure, table, and p-value in your manuscript can be traced back to a specific line of code.
  • If a reviewer questions a result, the analysis can be re-run and confirmed, not defended from memory.
  • If you need to re-run the analysis after adding data or correcting an error, the script does it consistently.

Why journals increasingly require this

A growing number of high-impact journals now ask authors for a data and code availability statement, and some require the analysis code itself as a condition of publication. Reproducibility has become a core part of research integrity. Supplying a clean, documented R script positions your manuscript to meet these expectations rather than scramble to reconstruct an analysis after submission.

The reporting guidance relevant to your study design — for example through the EQUATOR Network — also expects transparent, repeatable methods. R-based analysis supports that directly.

What you receive

  • The complete analysis performed in R by a qualified statistician.
  • The reproducible .R script, commented so you can follow each step.
  • Publication-quality figures generated from that analysis.
  • A plain-language explanation of which statistical methods were chosen and why.

If you have raw data and no analysis yet, this is part of our Just Data Service. If you already have results and need the manuscript written around them, it is available as an add-on to Manuscript Writing.
